Keegan saw the look he gave her. she just giggled. he was so silly. she really would love to go for a dip right then. the hot weather was paying a toll on everyone and it seemed like the both of them just needed to go cool off. maybe if she could get him to think about something else and relaxing and forgetting about what was going on in his life would help him. keegen knew it helped her. whether it be out riding her horse and just getting away fro a few hours or hiding up in the loft of the barn working on her music, she liked to get away and just have a few hours of freedom from her life. and right then, it seemed like ethan really needed one of those moments.
She smiled. "sounds like a plan." keegan stood up from the swing and finished the last bit of her lemonade. she would have to run to the truck and grab her suit, and probably change inside. "you plannin on wearin' that? . . I mean, do you need a pair of shorts or somethin'?" keegan just laughed. "you read my mind. but actually, i have a suit in the truck cus i went swimmin' the other day out at our pond. do ya mind if i change inside?." she watched him, her eyes sparkling. she really honestly just couldn't wait to be alone with him and having a good time.
She immegiately kicked herself for thinking that. no. he has a girlfriend. he doesn't want me. her eyes fell from his face and then she began backing up and walking around the deck, looking back at him expectantly. she gave him a grin and continued walking, making her way to the truck and looking through the back seat until she found her suit and then turned and looked at him. "can i use your bathroom or something to change?." she had her swimsuit and then a pair of short shorts to wear over the top and a net like shirt to put over the top, so she would at least somewhat clothed until they go to the water. "Sure," he said easily. Then he opened the back door for her, leading her into the house. It was tidy, though nothing fancy. Very country, homey. They entered the kitchen first, which was sparsely decorated with a couple pictures and some cute curtains. The cabinets were wood, but a little outdated. The appliances were white, though looking a few years old as well, despite being impeccably well cared for.
Then he led her into a small hallway between the kitchen and living room area and pointed to a door. "It's right there. Meet me outside when you're done?" He didn't want to seem improper by being alone in the house with her, so he trudged back outside and settled in on the swing. There was a gentle breeze in the air, but it was still hot. He couldn't wait to get down to the water.
While he waited, he found his thoughts consuming him once again. He wished Aria would text him or call him...anything. Mostly, he just wanted to know what was going on and figure out where things would go from there. He was so frustrated with her. Not because of the baby, but because of the way she was handling things. He admitted that the baby was just as much his fault as hers. He should have been more careful. He should have stood up to her and resisted temptation. But it wasn't right that he was being left out of decisions. It wasn't that he didn't like kids or that he didn't want to take responsibility for his actions...but he honestly felt like the baby would have a better life if they gave it up for adoption. Someone who desperately wanted a baby could give it a life they could only dream of.
He sighed, closing his eyes as he swung slowly. Back and forth, back and forth. It was so soothing, like being rocked as a baby. He'd have to make a note to beg his parents to put in a porch swing when he got home.
