The war was won, but not over. The dust had yet to settle and it cast ominous shadows on the ruins of what was left. Even a year after Harry Potter had defeated Voldemort, some people were still wondering if it was a dream, or rather a nightmare. Could he really be gone? The horrors he had brought on the Wizarding world wouldn't be soon forgotten and those who were wizened by war knew that the threat still loomed in those shadows. Voldemort may have perished, but his followers had not. Most were dead, lifeless as the puppets he made them out to be, others were missing. Few had been caught and dealt with due to the Ministry being thrown into chaos, but that was changing.

The Wizarding world was slowly rebuilding, and through the haze of uncertainty and fear hope is beginning to creep in at the edges. Of course the ministry is still on edge and as Hogwarts, which seems to be at the center of everything, rebuilds they are taking precautions. As the first new year begins at Hogwarts after the most devastating battle most of the Wizarding world has seen these precautions take the physical form of a Ministry appointed Deputy Headmaster and extensive wards. The damage is not yet fully repaired from the battle and it leaves the castle and it's patrons vulnerable to the dangers still lurking outside it's walls.

The Ministry is trying to keep things hushed up, but the downfall of Voldemort hasn't brought about the peace the world was hoping for. Muggles and known Muggleborn's are tuning up missing or dead mysteriously. There is still chaos everywhere you look, still looting and crime brought about by the attacks from Voldemort and his followers. Some of his most well known, unaccounted for, simple vanished.

The possibility of a threat inside however, has not gone unnoticed. There is uncertainty and unease concerning the loyalty of some students, namely Slytherin. Under more intense scrutiny still are the children of known and suspected death eaters and others they associate closely with. With the school and those inside it's walls still regaining composure after the attacks, all should be wary of those around them.

Despite all the threats around them though, Hogwarts is open for another year, in a time when it is needed most. Though some changes can be noted due to reconstruction, everything will be back as it was in time. Now is the time to rebuild and band together to protect our home away from home and extended family. In these uncertain times, no path is clear. Will you unite with others in a common goal, will you stand idly by and watch the chaos continue, or will you be a part of the continued undoing that began with Voldemort?
