Aria kissed her parents good bye and growled, of course her older brother would through a fit about having to stay home with their baby brother, Toby and it interfered with his plans, as to what those plans where she hadn’t a clue. Her parents had left with her other siblings for a three week vacation, leaving her with her six week old baby brother. Biting her lips, she took a deep breath and started picking up the house, she had to oversee the ranch but didn’t have to do anything the workers were going to take care of that. Starting to singing as she moved through the house, cleaning and picking up until everything was put back. She bit her lip nervously again, she had been texting Ethan like crazy for two weeks but they had both been too busy to see each other and well she hadn’t got that thing and she had confessed to her mother who had left her a test in her bathroom but she hadn’t brought herself to take it because she was nervous as hell. Looking around the house she took a deep breath and went upstairs, taking the monitor upstairs she checked on Toby before going into her room to pace before heading into the bathroom and taking the test, she set it on the counter and went and laid on her bed, ignoring her text, how could she text right now she was to distracted.

Ethan had been texting Aria all day but she quit responding. He left his phone in his room for awhile while he spent some time with his family, but then came back and still had no text from her. He sent her another one just to see if she would answer, but 30 minutes passed and still no luck.

He was getting annoyed, wondering why she was ignoring him. It wasn't like her to go so long without answering a text, so she was either mad at him about something or couldn't get to her phone. He waited a little longer, but finally couldn't resist the urge anymore and picked the phone up to call.

He clicked on her name and put the phone to his ear, listening to it ring. Please pick up. It seemed to ring forever but she didn't answer. He hung up and waited 5 minutes, and the called again. This was it, if she didn't answer now he was just going to give up and quit trying. She'd been a little aloof lately and if she didn't want anything to do with him anymore, well, so be it. He wasn't going to spend all his time chasing after someone who had moved on.

Her phone started ringing and she moved out of the bathroom pale as a ghost, and when she looked at her phone she sighed and picked it up, Im sorry Ethan im just a little zoned out, she laughed. I got stuck taking care of my six week old baby brother for three weeks and I was helping them get ready and I picked up the house. She paused, Ethan I have something to tell you, my birthcontrol failed and im pregnant, im so so so sorry Ethan if you want to run I understand why but if you want to talk in person im stuck at my house for the most part. She stopped hearing Toby making a fuss, I have to go Toby is up and hungry, I love you and I hope to see you soon I don’t like not seeing you. She hung up the phone and rushed to Toby’s room and scooped the baby up and cuddled him close, bouncing him so she could grab her phone out of her room and head downstairs to make a bottle. Checking the temp, she popped it into his mouth and he started sucking greedily, when he finished she burped him and started to sing the song her mother always sang to him, it was something she knew well as her mother sang it to all of her children to make them at home and sleep, Hush a bye, Don't you cry, Go to sleep, my little baby. She covered him and curled up on the couch, the tears starting to prick at the corners of eyes as she thought about the life changing events that were going to take place.

Well that went well, Ethan thought to himself as Aria clicked off the phone. He threw his phone across the room, listening to it hit the wall and then drop to the floor. At the moment, he didn't really care if it was broken or not. He'd just as soon not have to deal with anyone. Slamming his phone against the wall probably wasn't the best idea in that case, as his brother's room was on the other side of the wall. Sure enough, it was only a minute before Evan came charging into Ethan's room.

"What the hell man?," Evan screamed. Then he saw Ethan's face and calmed down. "What's wrong?" Ethan studied his brother for a moment, debating on whether he should tell him or not. He sighed, and finally decided it was better to have someone to talk to than no one. "It's Aria," he said slowly, "She says she's pregnant." He didn't need to add the obvious "with my baby" part, as his brother already knew about the incident two weeks ago.

Was two weeks enough time to know? Wasn't there a such thing as false positives? He felt sick to his stomach and sat down on the edge of his bed, looking slightly green. Evan stared at him for a minute and then spoke again. "Wow, that's rough. I never would have thought that out of you Ethan. You sure it's yours?" Ethan nodded. Yeah, he was pretty sure. Evan shook his head and shrugged. "Well, you're both young. Probably not ready for a kid. Why not just give it up for adoption or something? Nothing says you gotta be tied down just because you made a stupid mistake."

Ethan pondered this for a minute, and felt a little less sick. Evan was right, there were always other options. It wasn't like he had to let this ruin his hopes of college and a life. He'd been with Aria for a year, but was he ready to commit to forever? No, he didn't want to get married just yet, and he didn't want to feel like he had to just because she was having his baby. Plus, she had dreams of going to vet school. It would be best for both of them if they gave it up.

"Thanks man," he said to Evan, for once glad to have his older brother around. He dreaded having to tell his parents the news, and still felt himself clinging to a hope that Aria was wrong. It had only been two weeks...there was plenty of chance for the test to be wrong. He lay in his bed staring at the ceiling, debating on going over to see her. He wasn't sure he was ready to talk about it face to face, as the reality of it was still sinking in.

Instead, he pulled out his phone and texted her. "Sorry, can't leave right now. Text me when you get a chance." That was all. He didn't know what else to say. Sorry? He wasn't sorry. It wasn't entirely his fault. She'd said she wanted to take things to that level. She'd said she was on birth control. At the moment, he didn't quite see why it was his fault or why he needed to be held responsible.

The tears were pouring freely from her eyes, her mother had already made it clear, she ever got pregnant as a teen they were going to make her raise it. She sat up and heard her phone go off and just left it at that, she found her guitar and the monitor, taking her phone as well and headed outside. Sitting on the step, she started strumming, her foot tapping, eyes closed as she sang the song Savin me by Nickleback . The tears had long stopped, the words seeming to flow from her effortlessly and the notes hit perfectly on her guitar. Her foot tapping to keep the beat, she just sung her heart out, the song coming to an end. She took a small break before diving into the next song, something she did when she was upset or frustrated, she just kept singing, yes she did it all the time but it was normally a song before she got distracted or had to do something. Another Nickleback song, man she was on a kick with this and she was slowly beginning to relax, her eyes still stayed closed That I love you I have loved you all along And I miss you Been far away for far too long I keep dreaming you'll be with me and you'll never go Stop breathing if I don't see you anymore, she stopped dead and started out at the ranch, the cows seemed to be staring right back at her, their bellies round with calves and she started strumming again continuing on with the song, a smile seeming to find its place through the words leaving her, her momma always said she had a beautiful voice and a natural talent, Aria always and still did brush it off. Setting her guitar down, she rested her head in her hands and looked out across the fields, watching the sun slowly starting to set and the air filled with the smell of fresh cut silage. Closing her eyes again, she quietly listened.

Ethan stared at the ceiling for what felt like hours, wishing Aria would just text him back. He really couldn't believe this was happening and told himself this was why he should have just listened to his parents. He felt terrible and it was showing. His stomach was nauseous and he quietly declined dinner, saying he didn't feel well. It was the truth, but he didn't mention that he wasn't really sick. He dreaded having to tell his parents and wished there was some way he could undo everything without them ever finding out.

He could already see the disappointed looks they would give him, and he wondered how long he'd be grounded for. A year? Eternity? Neither seemed long enough to make up for what he had done. It had felt so good at the time, but now it just so wrong he wanted to just scrub it all away. Guilt. It's a rough thing to deal with, and Ethan wasn't having an easy go of it.

Finally he picked up his phone and decided to send her another text. Sooner or later she'd have to answer him. "I know you're probably mad, but we need to talk. I just can't handle doing this face to face right now." He knew he'd have a hard enough time putting his thoughts and feelings into text, let alone if he had to stand in front of her and try to formulate the words. He grabbed a tennis ball out of his closet and started bouncing it off the wall, waiting for her to text him back. If she ever did...

Aria, smiled and laughed as a baby calf licked her hands, looking for more mints. Her mamma stood watching making sure Aria didn’t hurt her baby, oh mamma relax I aint going to hurt your calf. She ruffled the longer tuff of hairs on the top of the baby’s head and felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, she slipped it out and bit her lip. He was right, she quickly texted him back, I told my mom she was the one who bought the test for me.. my whole family knows, my mom, older siblings, my dad. They are slightly disappointed but to teach me a lesson they are going to make me raise it, so the choice is up to you if you want to stay or if you want to leave, im sorry I fucked everything up for you Ethan and I understand if you don’t want me anymore. She sent the message and stuck her phone back in her pockets, digging in her pocket she found another mint and offered it to the baby calf again, she was chewing on the inside of her lip as she waited for him to respond back, she was going to have to redo her room and plan how she was going to fit everything in there, then again it was a very big room and she didn’t think she would such a problem. She shook her head and focused on the calf.

Ethan's phone finally buzzed to let him know he had received a text message. He picked up the phone and stared at it, not believe his eyes. She'd told her whole family already? The thought made him both sick and angry all at once. He came close to throwing his phone across the room again, but settled for just slamming his balled up fists into his pillow a few times.

Finally, he clicked the 'reply' button and then stared at the keyboard, trying to decide what to say. I'm sorry too? But he wasn't really sorry for anything other than what a mess this was turning into. He started typing slowly, and gradually sped up as he got worked up. "Don't be sorry. I can't believe you told everyone though. What happened to talking about it with me first? Besides, they can't make you do anything. You're in control of your own life. Think about how much better of a life it could have if it was adopted. Neither of us are ready to be parents. It's not your parent's decision to make, and I wish you'd quit putting them before me." He didn't bother to read over it before he hit 'send'. He knew it was going to hurt her, but at the moment he didn't care. Whether she liked it or not, this was his life too, and more his decision to make than her parent's. Why couldn't she see that?

Aria, was changing her brother when she received a text from Ethan and she about lost it. With a growl, she texted him back, How could you Ethan! I could never give my child up or kill it, me and my parents came to the decision together, I don’t care if you aren’t ready to be a father already because its happening whether you want to be a part of it or not and I cant believe you would say such a thing you know my family is important to me, oh I was going to be the first to tell you I got a record deal but I guess that doesn’t matter to you. I guess when your ready to man up and talk to me right than talk to me but till than I don’t want to talk to you because your hurting me. She hit send and finished changing her brother and went to the kitchen to take the bowl of three cheese chicken Penne and locked everything up and went to the living room to set the bowl down again and rock her brother along with feeding him again, when he was asleep she laid him back down and started to eat her home cooked meal, knowing she needed to eat even though she had lost her appetite, when she was done, she cleaned up her mess and took her brother out of his playpen and headed upstairs with it and placed it in her room, she hopped in the shower and then got out, she turned her tv on and dressed. She plugged her phone in and went to her closet, she took her old appy colored stuff animal horse out and closed the door, she laid down in her bed and cuddle the horse close and cried herself to sleep.

Ethan only read half of her text message before he turned is phone off and shoved it in a drawer. He stripped off his shirt and jeans and crawled into bed. His TV remote was laying on his nightstand, and he picked it up and turned the TV on as an attempt to help him fall asleep.

He did finally fall asleep, and awoke in the morning with an awful headache. His mom came in a few minutes later, and laid a hand on his forehead with a concerned look. She asked if he was feeling any better, and he shook his head. She seemed puzzled, since he didn't seem to have a fever, but left the room quietly.

A little while later his dad came in to check on him. He asked Ethan if something was wrong, and Ethan started getting nervous. Did his dad know? Was he just waiting for Ethan to tell the truth. Guilt was written all over his face, and his dad didn't miss it. "What's wrong, son?", he asked, looking genuinely concerned. Ethan sighed, and fiddled with his hands. "Um, Dad...I did something terrible." Silence filled the air as he tried to work up his courage. "Isleptwitharia," he finally blurted out in a rush.

His dad gave him a perplexed look, and nodded his head. "I was afraid of that. That night you spend the night, huh?" Ethan shook his head, deciding he had to tell the whole truth or none of it. "N-no. I sort of had her over while you guys were gone." He watched his dads face redden, but his dad didn't yell. "I see. I can't say I'm happy to hear this, but I can tell you understand what you did was wrong. I trust it won't happen again?" Ethan shook his head, biting his tongue. "No. But...Dad, she says shes pregnant."

His dad's face paled and he stared hard at Ethan. "But that was only two weeks ago. It's too soon for her to know for sure." Ethan shrugged. "She says she is, and that it's mine. Her parents are making her keep it." His dad's eyes widened and he shook his head. "I don't think that's the best idea. You kids are too young to take care of a baby. I'm not letting you do that Ethan. That baby deserves something better than two teen parents who can't even afford to keep food on the table." He sighed, and left the room.

Ethan was terrified, and knew his dad was talking to his mom. He could hear them in the bedroom downstairs, their voices growing louder and more heated now and then. Finally, he heard footsteps lightly coming upstairs, and his mom poked her head into the room. She came over and gave him a kiss on the forehead, brushing his hair out of his eyes. "Oh honey, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hoped none of my children would ever have this experience." She sighed, and looked at Ethan's devastated face. "Your father and I have talked, and we've decided the best thing to do is send you to your grandparents for awhile. If Aria's parents think they're going to make her keep the baby, they need to understand how hard it's going to be for her to handle things alone. I know you think you love her, but if she loves you she'll come around and realize this isn't the best thing for you. You need to focus on school, college, pursuing your dreams. You'll leave tomorrow, and I don't want to hear one word of complain about it." She stood up to leave, and then paused, turning to speak to him again. "And Ethan, honey, promise me. No more sex, not until you're married. We can fix things for you this time, but I hope you've learned your lesson." Ethan nodded, trying to fight the tears coming to his eyes.

Once his mom left the room, he broke down into tears, and went to find his phone. He opened it and decided to send Aria a quick message. No sense arguing with her about anything right now. "I'm leaving tomorrow. Not sure when I'll be back. We can text while I'm gone. I'll miss you." He clicked the send button and then went in search of a bag to start packing his things.

Aria, had woken up early to her phone ringing, they wanted her to come record her first song, she had called her parents to talk about it and she was taking her little brother with her until her parents would get there later to take him with them. She was a bundle of nerves and excitement as she stared out the car window on her way to the airport. Upon arriving she checked in and was rushed to a private jet with her little brother, after takeoff she turned her phone on and had a text from Ethan, he was leaving of course. She texted him back, Miss you too I had to leave to go record my first song im making money now I have a job and im really happy Ethan. She hit send and placed her phone back in her purse after she shut it off, she had dozed off and felt the plane landing which jolted her awake. Another private car and she was taken to her hotel and to her room, it had an amazing view she texted her parents to let them know she was safely here and she couldn’t help but smile, she didn’t have a text from Ethan yet but she hopped he would soon. There was a knock on the door and she answered it, everything was laid out for her and she was given her first song to learn. She started studying it, playing the notes on her guitar and singing along, her parents arrived that evening and they had a quick dinner before they had to leave. She was taken to the studio that night were she got her first taste and it was good take, She was recording a song called Our Song and they did one take and it was perfect. When she got back to the hotel she collapsed on the bed and giggled she was wide awake and wanted Ethan to text her.

Ethan awoke to the sound of his phone buzzing. He growled, feeling tired and grumpy after staying up late into the night the night before. He finally rolled over and picked up his phone and stared at it until his eyes adjusted and the screen became clear.

Ugh, it was Aria. He was getting a little fed up with the way she was handling things and didn't like this all being shoved at him at once. He didn't like his life being decided for him by someone else - especially someone who shouldn't have any control over him. He tried to be happy for her, but he couldn't help but roll his eyes. He hadn't even known she was doing anything serious with her music and he figured this was just one more thing she had decided on without him. He'd thought they might have a future together, but not if she wasn't going to let him be a part of it.

Did he want to reply to her? No, not really. But he felt obligated. After all, he's the one who had told her they could text. He typed and erased a couple times before finally settling on a message to send. "That's great, I'm happy for you. I hope you have fun. You'll have to fill me in if you get a chance." He grunted as he clicked 'send'. Fat chance of her filling him in. He was just really fed up with this whole thing and it was making him out of sorts. He yawned and looked at the clock, and finally decided to get up and trudge downstairs where he was sure his parents awaited him.
